Problem: Not Getting the Results Your Clients Want?

As a fellow fitness professional, I know we focus on strength, flexibility and cardiovascular techniques with our clients in order to help them reach their goals.

I’ve done this as well but what I was noticing was I was not getting the results my clients wanted.

Therefore I headed back to school to get my Masters Degree in Exercise Science with a focus on corrective exercise and therapeutic exercise.

I hoped this additional education and learning would be the missing piece to getting the results my clients were looking for.

Even after all this learning and money, I was getting better results but still I was not fully helping my clients overcoming injuries, busting through fitness plateaus and staying injury-free.

I began to search and research to see what I was missing from my exercise toolbox when it came to getting the fastest and best results for my clients.
Solution: Muscle Imbalances

The missing piece to my exercise toolbox was muscle imbalances.

I am not just talking about stretching what is tight, strengthening what is weak or just doing some corrective exercises.




Muscle imbalances are much more complicated than that.

Just focusing on three techniques of excise will limit how fast your client will reach their desired results, how quickly they will recover from an injury and won’t help them prevent injuries.

It is important to expand from those three basic exercise techniques in order to get faster results, increase the speed of injury recovery and prevent injuries by moving your clients from imbalanced to balances.

I learned fast that a strong rotator cuff DOES NOT mean a rotator cuff with good range of motion, pain-free movement, good shoulder strength and a full functioning shoulder.
I was supposed to be the shoulder injury guy!

I had gone back to university and completed my Masters degree in Exercises Science with a focus exercise and injuries.

I had to hit the books again and look back at all the work I had done with 46 health care professionals (doctors, orthopedic surgeons, physical therapists, massage therapists, occupational therapists, kinesiologists, exercise therapist, exercise physiologist, rehabilitation assistants). I dug back in past rotator cuff clients to see what worked and did not worked when putting the best rotator cuff program together.

I was amazed at what I found.

I discovered I was missing so much when it came to my therapeutic exercise program for the rotator cuff.

The thing that scared me was, I wonder:

   1. What exercises fitness professionals give their rotator cuff clients?
   2. Where do other fitness professionals get their information when working with rotator cuff injuries?

I know I have gone back to school for a year to get an advance Masters’ degree and put in hundreds of hours putting together the Effective Rotator Cuff Exercise Program.

From 16 years of working in personal training studios, gyms, recreation centres and fitness centers; I knew most fitness professionals don’t do this much research when looking for the most effective exercises for an injury.

Now I have the Effective Rotator Cuff Exercise Program and I’m confident when I have a client with a Rotator Cuff Injury.

I have a “Go-To” rotator cuff exercise program, full of rotator cuff exercises than I can give my clients.

Back Pain

The initial surgery was SUPPOSED to be a relatively risk-free procedure…

But there were complications…

Blood wasn’t draining properly and was pooling, resulting in a hematoma…

In the middle of the night my parents and sister Fran drove me an hour from Hamilton to Toronto Sick Kids hospital for an emergency procedure.

I remember three things from this night:

   1. The green Nike baseball cap I was wearing...
   2. Throwing up while in the waiting room because of the pain…
   3. And the worried look on my parent's and sister's faces when we were waiting in the hospital.

Maybe you've seen this look on faces of your family or friends when you've thrown your back...

The treatment was a success, and I was treated to days of recovery (and weird hallucinations while on morphine) in the hospital…

Unfortunately, the second surgery was more invasive than the first, as the doctors had to cut through fascia and muscle to get to the root of the problem.

Needless to say, I was left with a few biomechanical problems that made back pain a regular occurrence – despite the fact that I got back in great shape, worked out regularly and I was doing everything 'right'...
Conventional Treatments Never Worked For Me, Either

When I first started having back pain, I visited my doctor.

3 minutes later, I walked out with a prescription for painkillers.




Sound familiar?

Luckily, even in high school, I understood that painkillers didn't do anything for the problem, they only addressed the symptoms, so I chose to put up with the pain instead of pop the pills.

I kept up with sports and started lifting weights and my condition improved, but I still had pain that I felt I shouldn't have and it made me miss out on the thing I'd loved the most - sports.
I Was Frustrated, Embarassed and Still in Pain

So I kept searching and decided to visit a chiropractor.

After the first visit, I left in more pain than I went in with, so I never went back.

Knowing what I know now, it was a good call.

I'm sure there are many good chiros out there, but this guy definitely wasn't one of them.

If you've tried chiropractic, hopefully your experiences were positve.

Then, I tried massage...

Massage felt good, well, actually, massage hurt like heck...

But I did feel looser afterwards.

I Was Never Content With Simply Improving My Back Pain

So the search continued...

Here’s how it works.....

Let’s say you make a Conscious decision to lose weight. You start your weight loss program or diet. However, because your Subconscious blueprint is not in agreement with your Conscious decision to lose weight, it sets up RESISTANCE. Whenever you have RESISTANCE or a counter-intention between you Conscious and Subconscious mind, your Subconscious will resist your Conscious mind’s instructions. In this case – to lose weight.

The ONLY way to get your Subconscious Mind to agree to release the weight permanently is you MUST bypass the Critical Factor of your Conscious Mind. This cannot be done through "willpower".
